Good Wine & Good Food Go Together . . . .
|
Updated weekly, a website with a definite Burgundy bias, though the Brunello's of Tuscany have been taking up plenty of my time recently! Here you will find wine tasting notes together with restaurant reviews. I'm originally from the UK but work and live in Switzerland. Naturally there will be a 'local' bias to many of the restaurants visited, however, I travel as part of my work so you never know what could be next !

* Overseas Passion
A large "New World" wine tasting. 87 wines, some very,very good . . . .
* Wine and Cheese Matching
Some wierd and wonderful combinations, some very good, some less so . . .
* Fascinación Sudamérica, 50 wines from South America
A tasting organised by Mövenpick Weinkeller in Basel. Wines from Chile and Argentina.
* A man called Ed, a man called Mac and a bottle called Grange
A wine & dine evening chez Ed's Weinbistro, with 'Mac', a winemaker at Penfolds. Together we tasted 10 different Penfolds wines over 4 carefully prepared courses, with the perfect dessert -
Grange 1997.
* Summer? - It must be Riesling time
The weather has turned hot (30°C at last) and it's much less motivating to pull the cork from something red. Tested over a hot week, a range of 12 rieslings from Germany, Australia, France, New Zealand and USA.
* Domaine Spielmann Food & Wine Extravaganza
Sylvie Spielmann runs a little-known but super Domaine in Alsace just out of Bergheim. Over an adventurous 7 course menu we had the opportunity taste a range of her wines in the perfect setting.
* Brunello & Montalcino - All you need to know
Montalcino is a beautiful old town perched on top of a hill in Tuscany. From this specific area comes an individual and 'world-class' red wine.
* Red Burgundy Vintage 2000
2000 follows a excellent 1999 vintage and a very good 1998 vintage. How well can the wines compete with the the other bottles which are still on the shelf? Around 35 wines tasted and appraised.
